Tuesday Teaser #7: Tapa Corral

Busy. Not with anything interesting enough to blog about, though, just starting to get behind on schoolwork.

I had a math test last week; I thought I'd get a low grade because I'd forgotten to request extra time. Turns out I got a fair grade because the teacher decided the test was too long.

I've also been reconsidering getting a FurAffinity page. Haven't settled on a handle.

This week's TT was actually uploaded to Photobucket last Tuesday, but I couldn't be bothered to write up the entry. Sorry about that.

But it's a twofer, so that should make some of that up, eh?

This is a chimera (which may not be an official name, but it was also used to describe this other puzzle). It is a valid Corral puzzle, but it may also be solved as a Tapa.

Since there was a little confusion last month on the rules of Tapa, here's an overview. ertchin described it as "basically Minesweeper," and that's accurate so far. Numbers in a cell describe how many of the eight nearby squares need to be shaded in groups; e.g., a cell with "2 3" says that five of the surrounding squares should be shaded, with two in one group and three in another. Of course, since the above puzzle uses only single-digit clues, the shaded squares will all be in single groups.

Other than that, clue cells are not shaded, 2x2 squares are never fully shaded, and the shaded squares all form one polyomino. Happy solving!
